In the ancient town of Malgrate, overlooking Lake Como and surrounded by a park filled with centuries-old trees with an open-air swimming pool, Casa sull’Albero – a member of IHF, Italian Hotels & Friends – consists of a spectacular building made of glass and wood containing 12 guest rooms in a distinctive warm yet minimalistic style. It also offers a restaurant, bar, cinema and meeting room, library, outdoor swimming pool, personal spa and massage area.
Casa sull’Albero is located in an exceptionally strategic position, just twenty minutes’ drive from Bellagio and Varenna, thirty from Como and forty from Milan. All of these destinations are also easy to reach by train or bus, with stations and stops just a few metres from our facility. The Lecco Golf Club is less than ten minutes’ drive away, whilst the Bobbio – Valtorta ski resort can be reached in twenty minutes.

Freedom and privacy means knowing that our staff are available to offer their assistance and service whenever it is needed, as well as for a dinner at the restaurant, an apéritif or a quick snack.

Casa sull’Albero is a dreamlike place where we place a great deal of importance on our guests being able to relax and fully enjoy the peaceful ambience of the facility, a serene and relaxed environment which allows anybody staying there to escape their everyday life and immerse themselves in this experience. The same principle applies to the guests, who are expected to show respect for one another.
nature
Nature is an integral part of the project: you can see it in the name “Casa sull’Albero”, in the centuries-old trees throughout the park, in the mountains that crown the surrounding landscape and in the blue and green of the spectacular lake. Nature is also in the products that we proudly offer – products from the farms of Lake Como, the valleys and Brianza, all truly unique: locally-produced oil, cheeses, cured meats, jams, fruit, milk, wine, and more.
They are a way of discovering our beloved land, and the places where they are produced are some of the most picturesque, natural and unexpectedly breathtaking around.
ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
Environmental sustainability is part of the very design of our hotel: a building constructed with innovative energy-saving techniques (solar and photovoltaic power, for example), natural materials (wood and stone), and cutting-edge infrastructural systems (underfloor heating and cooling). Even the products we use for cleaning and maintenance and the products we consume are sustainable, all 100% environmentally friendly. Ancient woods found in mountain huts and expertly worked by carpenters from Brianza and Lake Como, famous around the world for their unmatched skill, provide the furnishings for Casa sull’Albero.

Design is the heart of Casa sull’Albero: a unique architectural design that is perfectly integrated into the landscape around it, with interiors featuring all the discretion and class of Italian design. However, design is also a big part of the town where we are located. Malgrate, with its ancient buildings that overlook the new lakeside, is just one example of design that is attentive to the landscape, a spectacular work of architecture that makes the beauty of the mountains and the lake a hundred times more enthralling. Design meets art in the blended initiatives held at Casa sull’Albero, featuring established painters and sculptors.
